Self-massage: a quality me-time to relax
Whether you are office worker, entrepreneur freelancer, self-employed or householder, having a me-time is very substantial to recharge your mind and body. Me-time is a self-care moment to nourish ourselves and self-massage is satisfactory choice. Of course, having massage therapist is the ideal one. However, if we have limited time, say 20 - 40 minutes per day, self-massage would be the most do-able action. It is simple, efficient and relaxing. Self-massage can contribute to happiness and well-being as it may induce a relaxing nervous system.
To support your enjoyable self-massage, quickly prepare few things below.
Disconnect from your smartphone
Completely turn off your gadget. At minimum, turn off your Wi-Fi or mobile network and put it on silent mode. You may want to turn on your alarm as a reminder.
Tell people around you not to disturb for the next few minutes
Yes, tell people that you are unavailable at this certain time. Tell them when you can talk or respond them. People will understand and appreciate your information. Should you be a mother with young kids, opt for their nap time or when they are at school.
Adjust the room temperature
Skin contains general receptor which generate impulse and send the signal to spinal cord and then to the brain. Right temperature will produce a sense of comfort.
Light on aromatherapy
If you love fragrant, you can light on aromatherapy. Lavender is a common aromatherapy for calming and support restorative for nervous system.
Turn on a soft and calming music
Choose instrumental music (music without lyrics) with slow tempo and set the volume appropriately. Music slows the heart rate, lower blood pressure, and decrease the levels of stress hormones and therefore, promotes relaxation.
NOW, START YOUR SELF-MASSAGE
Lay down in supine position on your mat or any comfortable base on the floor, bend the knees, place Simply Harmony MFR Balls* under your upper back, near the neck and around 2 fingers away midline for 1-3 minutes.

Then, you can move down Simply Harmony MFR Balls* towards the inner side of scapula until your buttocks. Pause in each spot that you prefer for 1-3 minutes, straighten your legs and relax, let your body weight come down to the mat and breathe deeply.
Alternatively, you can roll the balls along your spine by keep bending the knees and use the soles of your feet as the support when you move your body up and down. Same way goes to buttocks, just be sure that you don’t place Simply Harmony MFR Balls* underneath the bone. The beautifully handcrafted balls are made from solid wood which will provide you with just right pressure. Close your eyes, feel the sensation, find your comfortable spot while keep breathing deeply and slowly. This self-massage is known as myofascial release (MFR) to release muscular shortness and tightness, stretching and loosening the fascia which may improve the range of motion, relieving uncomfortable feeling in body by untangling muscle knots, stimulating blood circulation and therefore, allowing smooth energy flow throughout the body, supporting our body for optimum performance and wellness. When you feel enough, remove the balls and lay down for a while. Have enough water to drink afterwards. Choose lukewarm water or water at room temperature to support your organs.
Enjoy and feel refreshed!
